When I get home after exercising in the Tama River, I’m also exercising to maintain my basic physical strength in a small practice room at home. What I want to be the strongest in the part of the body is the abdominal muscles. I want to stand in a good posture even as I get older, and I want to speak with a smooth and suitable volume. 多摩川で朝の運動を終え帰宅したら、自宅の小部屋で基礎体力を維持するための運動もしています。特に腹筋は強くありたく、これから歳を重ねても良い姿勢で立ちたいし、滑舌良く場に最適な声量で喋っていたいです。
When training in the Tama River in summer, even in the early morning, my skin gets sunburned and Do-Gi gets wet with sweat and becomes heavy, but the Tama River in autumn is cool and I feel so good ♪ 暑かった夏の多摩川で運動していた時期は、早朝であっても日焼けし道衣は汗でずっしりと重くなりました。しかし、秋を迎えた今日の多摩川は涼しく、とても気持ちが良いです♪
Recently, I’ve become more grateful to the person who serves as a partner in training than before. Because my partner seriously asks and understands what I want to convey and express, so we can have a meaningful performance. We want to further enhance this active listening and ability, and we want to be involved so that many children can develop that ability ! 最近はこれまで以上に、稽古で相手を務めてくれる相手に対し、感謝の想いを強く抱いています。 私が伝えたいことや表現したいことを理解し訊いてくれるから、我々は意味の有る動きや技を紹介出来ます。 「聞く・聴く」ではなく、「訊く」能力を私たちは更に高めて行き、この能力を子供たちが育んで行けるように携わって行きたいです。
My students who started practicing at the age of 6 turned 20 years old, and now they are my partners at Dojo. If I keep doing one thing for a long time, my fun and joy will grow. Now, I feel happy to have enough time to share the charms of Budo, Karate-do, and Wado-ryu with my students.
The November issue of JKFan, a karate magazine, was released today. An article about the 59th Wado-ryu Karate-do Federation National Championships held last month is posted. There are also photos of me and my students and my interview articles. I’m very proud of the day I was honored with my son.
In my house when I was young, the whole family was eating at the Chabudai (low dining table). My posture got better because I sat in seiza. If I sit seiza for a long time, my legs will be numb, so I started to eat silently and finish eating quickly. When I ate in a hurry, sometimes I behaved badly, and my father slapped me. My father’s slap hurts, so I started to think in advance how to move quickly to dodge the slap. The first thing I learned when I started practicing karate was seiza. I was praised by my teacher for my good posture and movement. It’s thanks to the meal at the chabudai and my strict father. 今朝の稽古開始の挨拶時に、子供たちの正座や礼がとても気になりました。猫背であったり左右に傾いていたり、どこを見ているのかわからない視線。 今までの伝え方では届いていない、他の方法で正座や礼に対する意識を変えたいと思い稽古で色々試してみました。 私は昭和後期生まれですが、幼い頃は家族全員ちゃぶ台で正座し食事をしていました。姿勢は良くなりましたが長い時間正座をしていると足が痺れてしまうので、無言で急いで食べるようになりました。急いで食べるとたまに行儀が悪くなり、そんな時は父のビンタを食らったものです。そのビンタがとても痛いので、素早くよける方法を考えるようになりました。 空手道の稽古を始めた時、最初に習ったのが正座でした。私は先生から「君は座り方や立ち上がり方が自然で良いぞ。」と褒められました。ちゃぶ台で食事した日々と厳しい父のおかげだと思いました。
I did a dedication demonstration to Tama River and God who watches over me in every morning’s practice.
This year, I suffered a lot of injuries, but I was able to continue practicing every day because the sun, the sky, the river, the grass, the trees and the air healed me.

When Setamatsu Sensei, who was 92 years old, was summoned to heaven six years ago, I almost lost my way, but I didn’t lose my mind. Because Setamatsu Sensei gave me a new encounter. That Senseis is giving me more passion !
There’s no reason why I don’t burn my mind !
